Tembour hook also known as, Ari Embroidery or French embroidery beading (from 18th century onwards). It is commonly seen and used in couture pieces. This technique was originated from India in the 17th century.
It is creating a chain stitch using a long thin tool witha hook at the end and a wooden handle. Due to the speed and efficiency of this technique, eventually the west ateliers adopted this technique and incorporate it into today's "Haute Couture".
